Stu Kaler is a seasoned veteran of venture-backed startups in Silicon Valley. Stu has had three previous successful exits- Efficient Drivetrains (Co-Founder, Board of Director, VP, General Counsel -- acquired by Cummins 2018); ClairVoyante (VP, General Counsel -- acquired by Samsung 2008) and TriVascular (VP, General Counsel -- IPO, 2014). For nearly 30 years, Stu has counseled numerous CEOs and high-tech businesses reach their success -- and is bringing all of his experience to focus on the success of NuVinix.

Christa Martin

Christa Martin

CFO/CMO/Co-Founder

Christa Martin is a product launch expert, former VP of the UPS/The UPS Store, award-winning marketer, with a P&L portfolio experience of over $1B. She has worked in various roles at 3M, BFGoodrich, Varian, and more. She holds a degree in chemistry, an MBA, and a certificate from MIT in AI Business Implications. She is a member of Iota Sigma Pi, the honor society of women in chemistry, and was the Assistant Director of the Ohio Academy of Science. She provides marketing strategy consulting to start-up, mid-level businesses, and private equity-backed portfolio companies. She was named a Top 100 Marketer in 2020.

John Carpenter

John Carpenter is a private pilot, software engineer, and patent attorney in Silicon Valley. Prior to co-founding NuVinix, Mr. Carpenter was an attorney at Reed Smith (a top 20 International Law Firm) where he advised a wide variety of start-up and Fortune 500 companies. At Dolby Laboratories he was responsible for Intellectual Property development of High Dynamic Range display and laser projection technologies. Mr. Carpenter regularly volunteers for legal and technical assignments in support of underserved segments of our community.

Kimberlie Cerrone

Kimberlie Cerrone

Kimberlie Cerrone is a dealmaker and IP strategist who has been a C-level executive at nine venture-backed companies, at two of which she was part of the team that took the company from pre-formation to IPO. She practiced tech and IP law at two of Silicon Valley’s top law firms where she was an early advisor to many leading technology companies. She is the currently the founder and CEO of Tiatros Inc, an online therapeutic and peer support platform designed to help build mental wellbeing. Kimberlie holds degrees in biochemistry (U. of Illinois); neuroscience (New York University); business (U. of San Francisco); and law (U. of California, Hastings College of the Law).

Eric Kaler

Eric Kaler

Eric W. Kaler is a professor of chemical engineering and materials science and president emeritus at the University of Minnesota. A member of the National Academy of Engineering, Dr. Kaler received his bachelor’s in Chemical Engineering from Caltech in 1978 and his Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota in 1982. Mr. Kaler is a world-renowned scholar in the field of surfactant and colloid science and engineering, and has published over 200 papers and holds 10 U.S. Patents. He has served on the board of Brookhaven Science Associates, an organization of six universities and Battelle Memorial Institute who managed Brookhaven National Laboratory for the Department of Energy, and in leadership roles on boards for the Big Ten athletic conference and the NCAA. In July 2021, Dr. Kaler will become the president of Case Western Reserve University.

Joel Pollack

Joel Pollack

Joel holds BS in Physics from Rochester Institute of Technology and an MS in Materials Science from the University of Rochester. He has worked as a physicist at Xerox WRC, engineering and marketing manager at Tektronix, VP of the Display Business Unit at Sharp Microelectronics of the Americas, the CEO of, Clairvoyante, acquired by Samsung. He coordinated the development of display technology used in most of Samsung’s Galaxy phones and the iPhone 10S and 11S. At Amazon’s Lab 126 he managed display engineering for Kindle e-readers, Echo and Kindle Fire tablets. He has also been a Board Director for, CLEARink Displays, a venture-funded display start-up.

Dr. Lorne Whitehead

Dr. Lorne Whitehead

Technical Board Advisor Dr. Lorne Whitehead is a physics professor and innovation advisor at the University of British Columbia, where he has also served as dean pro tem science, and vice president academic & provost. Prior to joining the UBC faculty, he founded and for ten years led a company that pioneered light pipe illumination. Lorne has received 143 US patents, yielding seven new companies and numerous license agreements. His inventions are used in many computers, televisions and lighting systems.

Bram Sadlik

Bram Sadlik

After completing his undergraduate degree in Physics at the University of British Columbia, Bram went on to complete an M.Sc. at Simon Fraser University in experimental Physics where he studied under John Bechhoefer. Since then ,he has worked with several startup companies designing a variety of optical systems with applications ranging from: photovoltaic and other metrology, photovoltaic cell design to TIR based reflective displays.

Dr. Harold Trease

Dr. Harold Trease

Dr. Harold Trease has four decades of experience developing software solutions used for solving complex problems in intelligent image and video analysis; multiphysics computational simulation software; and optimization of real-time computer engineering applications. Harold has a PhD in nuclear engineering/physics from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign; spent thirty-five years working at the Los Alamos National Laboratory and Pacific Northwest National Laboratory; and has many years of experience being founder/CIO/CTO at several internet startup companies.
